In February 2010, Covenant opened its doors in San Antonio with fourteen team members who were passionate about executing our mission of unburdening clients from the daily cares of financial management. In 2012, Covenant expanded its presence into North Texas with the opening of our Dallas office and the addition of three team members focused on serving our metroplex clients and growing the Covenant brand. Later that year, we added team members in Austin, and ultimately, established our presence in Oklahoma in 2015 with the acquisition of our team in Oklahoma City.
While Covenant’s legacy has been primarily serving corporate executives and business owners, today, we work with a wide variety of clients – both individuals and institutions. Besides broadening our service offering, we have also broadened our talented team to 37 experienced advisors and support personnel across our four offices.
While our clients and team members have provided a great beginning for Covenant, we are not done yet. David Akright is a wealth advisor at Covenant. In this role, David advises clients on various financial planning topics by applying the firm’s proprietary process, Lifestyle. Legacy. Philanthropy.®. David helps clients develop and implement prudent strategies to achieve their lifetime goals through investment, income tax, and philanthropic solutions.
Prior to joining Covenant, David worked at Jefferson and Franklin Financial in San Antonio where he provided financial solutions to public education employees, including pension analysis and 403(b) retirement plans.
David graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an emphasis in economics. While at Colorado, he was a member of the Economics Club and the National Society of Leadership and Success. David also earned his Master of Science in Finance from the University of Texas – San Antonio in May of 2016 and holds the professional designations of a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®).
Outside of work, David is active in the community and currently serves on the Finance Committee of The DoSeum, San Antonio’s museum for kids.
David lives in San Antonio with his wife, Kaitlyn, and son, Preston. David is a lifelong Spurs fan and enjoys traveling, playing golf, and relaxing with his black lab Leonard.
Senior Tax Specialist
Monica Alcantar is a senior tax specialist at Covenant. She serves clients by preparing personal, business, and fiduciary tax returns at the federal and state levels. She also assists Covenant advisors with quarterly and year-end tax planning for client families.
Monica has over 15 years of public accounting experience focused on tax compliance and tax planning. She has worked in various areas of taxation including trust, partnership, gift and estate, and not-for-profit.
Monica earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Professional Accounting from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Texas Society of CPAs.
Monica lives in San Antonio with her husband George. She enjoys serving as a choir director at her church and spending time with family and friends.
Michelle Armendariz is a tax associate at Covenant. Her primary responsibility is the preparation of personal, business and fiduciary tax returns at the federal and state levels.
Prior to working for Covenant, Michelle was a bank officer for First State Bank of Uvalde and obtained over 10 years of banking experience focused on compliance and accounting. She has also worked for CPA firms in all areas of taxation and audit.
Michelle earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas in San Antonio and a Master of Accountancy from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi.
Michelle lives in New Braunfels with her husband Arturo and enjoys different kinds of activities outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Associate Wealth Advisor
May Atassi is an associate wealth advisor at Covenant. In her role, she supports the firm’s operations by building financial plans, maintaining client accounts, and cashiering. Additionally, she prepares performance reports, reconciliation, and tax returns for clients.
May graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Baylor University. While at Baylor, she was a member of the Model Organization of American States and Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. She was also a tutor and a teacher assistant.
Outside of work, May enjoys watching TV shows, reading, music, yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
Partner and Managing Director
Barry Beal is a partner and managing director of Covenant. He helps guide the firm by overseeing the leadership team and the operational aspects of Covenant ranging from the acquisition of firms and talented individuals to the implementation of new technology and reporting capabilities. An integrator and builder by nature, Barry brings to Covenant over 30 years of insight and experience working directly with wealthy families and as a senior executive at top financial institutions across the country.
Prior to joining Covenant, Barry served in leadership positions at two wealth management practices in Dallas — director of sales and wealth management at True North Advisors and senior vice president at Frost Bank. Previous to Frost Bank, he provided strategic leadership as the executive vice president of BOK Financial’s $37 billion wealth management division. During his tenure at BOK Financial, he served as a board member of the securities firm BOSC, Inc., chairman of Cavanal Hill Investment Management, and president and CEO of Cavanal Hill Funds (formerly the American Performance Funds).
Barry began his career with Bank One (now JPMorgan Chase) in 1989, starting in Dallas as a private banker and then advancing to leadership positions in Houston, Louisiana and Chicago. In 2003, he accepted an appointment to JP Morgan’s Private Client Services Executive Leadership Team as regional sales director responsible for the Midwest region. Barry was directly accountable for the growth of a five-state territory with $16 billion in assets under management and more than 500 advisors and support staff.
Barry holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance from Baylor University. He has completed various management and leadership development programs including Leadership Arts offered by the North Texas Business Council for the Arts (BCA), and executive leadership programs offered by the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and JPMorganChase.
Barry believes in actively supporting his community and has served on the boards of various nonprofit organizations including Social Venture Partners in Dallas, the Salvation Army of Tulsa, the Alley Theatre in Houston and the Dallas Children’s Theater. When not at work or serving at his church, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Allison, and their two boys, Benjamin and Blake.
Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator
Rene Chien is the graphic design and marketing coordinator for Covenant. She is responsible for the creation and design of collateral materials and ads, website and social media management, and event/PR coordination. Rene also performs ongoing brand management, ensuring the proper use of the firm’s brand guidelines in marketing initiatives and firm-wide communications. She works directly with the partner responsible for Sales & Marketing initiatives.
Prior to joining Covenant, Rene was a graphic designer for Cisco Systems, Inc., where she worked with clients to complete design projects and created graphics for internal communications. In the previous year and overlapping with her job at Cisco, she designed for a Dallas-based nonprofit organization called 29 Pieces, in which she gained experience in brand management, website design and development, and creation of marketing collateral.
Rene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Emerging Media and Communication from The University of Texas at Dallas. During her undergraduate career at UT Dallas, she co-founded Chinese Student Association and served as Vice President and Treasurer. She is currently a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA).
Rene lives in Dallas with her newly wedded husband Evan. She enjoys relaxing with a good TV show or movie, singing karaoke, and traveling with family and friends.
Client Service Associate
Lana Cooper is a client service associate at the Boerne office for Covenant. Prior to joining Covenant in 2019, Lana was the Executive Assistant with Eggerss Capital Management from 2018 until their merger with Covenant. Lana takes joy in interacting with and serving clients by establishing and maintaining client accounts, and by providing office support for the advisors in the Boerne office.
Lana studied Business Marketing at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and brings many years of client service experience to Covenant. She worked for a non-profit organization participating in client intakes as well as managing the data processing department.
Lana lives in Boerne with her husband Steve and their three children, Jonathan, Caleb and Abigail. Being from Wisconsin, she loves sports, the outdoors, and spending time with close friends and family. She also enjoys other cultures as evidenced by her two years living in Guatemala as a team leader for the organization, Students International.
Chief Financial Officer
Kristina Craig is the Chief Financial Officer at Covenant. Her primary responsibility is to manage the financial aspects of Covenant’s day-to-day business activities, staff, and resources. A member of Covenant’s tax team, Kristina also assists client families with the preparation of personal, business, and fiduciary income tax returns at the federal and state levels. Additionally, she provides material support to Covenant advisors in the areas of financial and estate planning, as well as tax planning. Kristina also consults with the firm on compliance issues.
Prior to joining Covenant, Kristina spent nine years working as an accountant in public practice. The three years prior to joining the firm she worked for the Texas-based accounting firm Carneiro, Chumney & Co. as a senior tax accountant. Through her career, Kristina has developed substantial experience assisting families and businesses with income tax compliance and planning, and has been heavily involved in the day-to-day family and business operations including payroll, general ledger accounting, and various other accounting functions.
Kristina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Management from Abilene Christian University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the San Antonio Estate Planners Council. Along with being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Kristina has earned her Chartered Global Management Accountant® (CGMA) designation.
Outside of work, Kristina serves on the Board of Directors for Communities in Schools San Antonio and is a member of the organization’s finance committee.
Kristina lives in San Antonio with her family and is an avid soccer fan. She enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Manager of Client Operations
Lindsey is the manager of client operations at Covenant. She has served the Boerne team, previously Eggerss Capital Management, since 2015 in many roles ranging from developing and implementing policies and procedures, providing marketing support, working on special projects, maintaining client and custodial relationships, overall operations, and administrative support.
A San Antonio native, Lindsey earned her B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She served as a founding staff member of UpWords Ministries, interacting with ministry supporters and developing a retrieval system for researchers. Later, she served as Volunteer Coordinator for 1910 Church. She helped create the Boerne High School Bass Club, served on the BISD Long Range Planning Committee, and actively volunteers in many capacities for multiple organizations.
An avid runner, Lindsey also enjoys pilates, traveling, reading, and hosting gatherings at her family’s hill country home. She and her husband, Marco, live in Boerne and have three children: Shelby, Owen, and Ellie.
Associate Wealth Advisor
Sam Dreibelbis is an associate wealth advisor at Covenant. He supports the firm’s operations through cashiering, client account maintenance and custodial relationships. He also assists in performance reporting, reconciliations, preparing tax returns, and building financial plans for clients.
Prior to joining Covenant, Sam worked at Ernst & Young LLP in McLean, VA where he was a part of the assurance practice, primarily executing quarterly financial statement reviews and annual audits of internal controls and year-end financial statements. His primary client was a Real Estate Investment Trust located in Washington D.C.
Sam graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Accounting as well as a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Penn State University. While at Penn State, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and Students Consulting for Non-Profits. He was also a member of the Volunteer Income Tax Association.
Sam is originally from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and moved to San Antonio in May 2017. Sam is an avid Penn State sports fan and enjoys playing golf, reading, and spending time outdoors.

Senior Wealth Advisor
Scott Duncan is a Senior Wealth Advisor at Covenant. Prior to joining Covenant, Scott founded Covenant Financial Services in 1978 and in 1984 formed Covenant Financial Services, Inc as a Registered Investment Advisory firm. Scott brings extensive family office experience in comprehensive individual, family, and multi-generation financial planning, wealth structures, tax and estate planning, family governance, leadership transition, philanthropic strategies, and insurance planning.
Scott attended high school at the New Mexico Military Institute and received his B.A. from Oklahoma Baptist University and his M.Sc. in Financial Services from the American College. He retains professional designations as a CFP®, CLU®, ChFC® and is certified in estate planning and taxation by The American College. Scott is a member of the President’s Council of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, as well as, a member of the Board of Trustees for Mid America Christian University.
Scott collects art and 18th century American antiques and currently serves as the editor of the Pewter Collector’s Club of America newsletter. His recreational activities include mountain biking in his beloved Crested Butte, Colorado and he puts in a thousand miles or more per year on his road bike to stay in shape. He and his wife, Debra, have a grown son and daughter and six grandchildren who all live within a five minute drive from their home in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Family Office Associate
Beth is a family office associate at Covenant and supports the firm’s operations by providing high level concierge services and bill payment solutions to family office clients. She also helps coordinate firm-wide marketing initiatives that increase the firm’s visibility in the community.
Prior to joining Covenant, Beth worked as an educator for over 20 years. Beth is a graduate of Berry College in Georgia, where she studied Home Economics Education.
Beth lives in San Antonio with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and vacationing at the beach.

Founder and Managing Director
John is the founder and a managing director of Covenant. In his several leadership roles with Covenant, John serves as the firm’s CEO, chief wealth advisor, and leads all client service efforts.
Prior to founding Covenant in 2010, John led Frost National Bank’s Wealth Management Services group from 2004 onward. John spent the first 20 years of his career at Ernst & Young where he last served as the firm’s director of executive planning services. John has lengthy experience assisting families with their investment, income tax, wealth transfer planning, family governance and philanthropic strategies. Throughout his career, John worked with Fortune 500 executives to assess and implement complex compensation strategies—including deferred compensation, restricted stock, stock option, and other employee benefit planning.
John was named a Barron’s 2012 and 2013 Top 100 Independent Financial Advisor. He has also been recognized since 2012 as a Five Star Wealth Manager. Earlier in his career, John was named by Worth magazine as one of the Top 100 Wealth Advisors in the country.
John graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Berry College in Rome, Georgia in 1983. He earned his Masters of Accountancy – Tax from the University of Georgia in 1984. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), and Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®).
John is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, the CFA Institute, and the Investment Management Consultants Association. He is also a member of the Fidelity Investments Advisor Council.
Outside of work, John is active in many community activities. He serves on the board of trustees for the San Antonio Museum of Art and serves as a member of the advisory committee for San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries (SAMM). At his church, John serves in many volunteer and leadership roles. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
John lives in San Antonio with his wife, Beth. Their son, Matt, is married to Holly, and the two of them reside in Fort Worth.
Oralia D. Echavarria is a tax assoiate at Covenant. Her key responsibility is the preparation of personal, business, and fiduciary tax returns at both the state and federal levels.
Before working for Covenant, Oralia held the position of Tax Accountant II at Guerrero, CPA in San Antonio. Her primary responsibility was to prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, estate, and exempt organization tax returns. Additionally, Oralia was a quality reviewer and assisted in tax planning and tax strategy.
Oralia earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word and is eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
Oralia lives in San Antonio and enjoys traveling as well as spending time with her family and pets.
Partner and Senior Wealth Advisor
Karl J. Eggerss is a senior wealth advisor and partner of Covenant. In addition to leading the Boerne office, Karl is instrumental in the firm’s efforts to educate the public regarding the financial markets through media channels including radio, television, and podcasts. He is also a contributing member of the investment committee where his insight is a valuable addition to our strategic research, manager due diligence, and portfolio construction.
Karl’s interest in the financial services industry started at an early age when his father purchased him his first stock position in the mid 1970’s and he made his first trade at age 14. After earning his BBA in Finance from Southwest Texas State University in 1995, with a specialization in Financial Planning, he started his career working for Fidelity Investments in Dallas, Texas as a mutual fund trader. After Fidelity, he served for 14 years at a San Antonio based money management firm where he ascended to the role of Chief Trader.
In 2010, Karl established a successful and rapidly growing registered investment advisory firm, Eggerss Capital Management. In May of 2019, he seized upon the opportunity to merge his firm with Covenant. This combination has allowed Karl to add more resources and enhance his ability to provide insightful planning and investment guidance to his clients.
Through his career, Karl has hosted a syndicated daily radio show airing in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Colorado Springs, & Denver and has been invited to speak on the market at various financial news networks including CNBC, CNBC Asia, Bloomberg, Fox Business, & Reuters. Karl enjoys offering public discourse on the state of the economy and the financial markets whenever possible.
After meeting his wife, Amy, in college, they were married in 1997. With their two children, Anson and Avery, Karl and Amy currently reside in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas. In his limited spare time, Karl enjoys golf and spending time with his family.
Sean joined Covenant’s Investment Committee in 2012. Sean serves as the firm’s resident economist and contributes to asset allocation strategies. Prior to joining Covenant, Sean served as Senior Vice President of Investment Management for AT&T until his retirement in 2012. In that role he had leadership responsibility for managing AT&T’s ~$80B investment portfolios including the development of investment strategies and asset allocation policies. Sean has over 30 years of experience in the financial markets as a corporate treasurer and asset management professional.
Sean graduated with honors from the University of Colorado where he earned both a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Master of Science degree in Finance.
Sean lives in Florida with his wife Chris where they enjoy spending time aboard their boat Caliente.
Jaclyn “Jackie” Gonzalez is an administrative assistant at Covenant. She is responsible for many facets of the organization’s day-to-day activities, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and overall operation of the office.
Prior to joining Covenant, Jackie worked at University Health Science Center in San Antonio for 7 ½ years. She provided customer services as a front desk and appointment/ surgery benefit coordinator for several specialties (cardiology, pulmonary, rheumatology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and gastro). She was responsible for answering calls, scheduling patient’s appointment, assisting with referral request, referral authorizations and training new hires. She also provided administrative support to clinic managers, providers, and directors.
Jackie lives in San Antonio with her husband, Isaiah, and their three children, Alexa, Allyson, and Isaiah. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Manager – Tax Services
Diana Guadiano is the manager of tax services at Covenant. Diana’s responsibilities include the preparation of personal, business, and fiduciary income tax returns at the state and federal level. In addition, she provides support to Covenant advisors in areas of financial and tax planning, while also materially participating with the firm’s compliance issues.
Prior to joining Covenant, Diana worked for Texas based Frost Bank for over twenty years. She held numerous positions in various departments during her time at Frost, including the Financial Management Services Group, the bank’s Wealth Management Group, and the Trust Tax Group. During her time in these areas, she developed substantial experience in the areas of tax and planning.
Diana holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas San Antonio. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and the San Antonio Estate Planners.
Diana has been an active member of the San Fernando Cathedral Health & Safety Fair Committee for over twenty years and is also involved with the Raffle Committee for the San Antonio Livestock Exposition.
Diana lives in San Antonio and enjoys running, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Associate Wealth Advisor
Lyda Guerra is an associate wealth advisor at Covenant. A key member of the firm’s tax department, she is responsible for preparing federal, personal, business and fiduciary tax returns on behalf of client families. Lyda assists with providing quarterly and year-end tax planning services, and also provides bookkeeping services including bank and investment account reconciliations.
Prior to joining Covenant, Lyda worked at Chama Gaucha Corporate Office in San Antonio where she worked in the accounting department and helped with payroll, general ledger support and accounts payable.
Lyda graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio with a B.B.A. in Management Information Systems and Accounting. She spent two summers studying abroad at the University of Innsbruck in Austria.
Lyda lives in San Antonio and is an avid Spurs fan. She enjoys traveling, painting, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Velma is a tax manager at Covenant. She is in charge of the operational side of the tax practice while she continues to serve clients by preparing personal, business and fiduciary tax returns at the federal and state levels. She also assists Covenant advisors with quarterly and year-end tax planning for client families.
Velma has over 15 years of public accounting experience focused on tax compliance and tax planning. She has worked in all areas of taxation including individual, trust, partnership, gift and estate, not for profit and international taxation.
Velma earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Accounting with a Specialization in Taxation from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Texas Society of CPAs. Velma is a current board member of Communities in Schools of San Antonio and serves on the Finance Committee. She has also served on the Resource Committee and enjoys helping with the annual Stuff the Bus Campaign.
Velma lives in San Antonio and enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. She is also an avid San Antonio Spurs fan.
Director of Client Relations
Harriet Marmon Helmle is the Director of Client Relations for Covenant. She is responsible for developing business for Covenant and for family governance and philanthropic development for existing clients.
Prior to serving as part of Covenant’s founding team in 2010, Harriet was a part of Frost Bank’s wealth management services group, beginning in 2004. For the six years prior to joining the wealth management services group, Harriet was with the bank’s financial management group. Before joining Frost, Harriet’s career included her serving as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of San Antonio-based Security Trust & Financial Company and 12 years’ experience with Price Waterhouse Coopers and Deloitte & Touche.
Harriet graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in 1968. She received an Associated Arts Degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Harriet also attended the University of Texas at San Antonio for Post-graduate studies in Accounting from 1979 to 1980. She is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Harriet is a member of the Estate Planners Council, The Texas Society of CPAs, and The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Harriet is widely recognized in San Antonio as the founder of San Antonio Youth Literacy. Since its 1983 inception, San Antonio Youth Literacy was a catalyst in San Antonio for many mentoring programs; it was one of the first in the country to use business leaders as mentors in the public school system. Harriet and San Antonio Youth Literacy have received many local, state and national awards for serving as a role model for business/school partnerships. San Antonio Youth Literacy continues today, with a focus on first and second grade reading and comprehension.
As the leader and driving force behind Covenant’s family governance and philanthropic-related activity, Harriet’s community involvement ranges wide and deep. She was 2007 chairman and serves on the executive committee of the Texas Business Hall of Fame. She serves on the Board of Trustees of the San Antonio Medical Foundation and is on the steering committee for Haven for Hope. She has also served on the executive committee and Board of Directors for the Children’s Shelter, and she received the Angel of the Shelter award. For Girls, Inc., Harriet is an advisor to the board and received the “Strong Smart and Bold Award” in 2010. She sat on both the Texas Mental Health and Mental Retardation Commission and the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women. She serves on the board of trustees for KLRN Public Television Foundation. She is also a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Boerne, TX. Hard as it may be to believe, the above is only a partial listing of Harriet’s community activity.
Harriet is married and lives in Boerne with her husband, Austin, and their two Australian Shepherds, Mercedes and Denali.
Associate Wealth Advisor
Donna Herndon is an associate wealth advisor at Covenant. Donna provides financial and tax planning support to the advisors in the Oklahoma City office. She also performs client support operations including cashiering, account maintenance, custodial relationships, and compliance processes.
Donna has more than 25 years of experience working for investment advisory and brokerage firms as an Operations Manager with a strong background in compliance. During that time, she held the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 53 security licenses. In 2015, she obtained her Series 65 registration.
Donna lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with her husband Todd, and both are huge fans and supporters of Todd’s Alma Mater, the Oklahoma State Cowboys. She enjoys reading, photography, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
Senior Administrative Assistant
Wanda Humphus is a senior administrative assistant at Covenant. She joined the San Antonio-based team in February 2013. Wanda provides administrative support to the tax services team and assists with the day-to-day operation of the office.
Wanda has focused her career on delivering exceptional client service. Prior to joining Covenant, she worked as an executive assistant at Clear Design for over nine years where she advanced through positions of increased responsibility while supporting the implementation of new office procedures, training new employees and assisting the accounting department. Prior to Clear Design, Wanda served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1996.
Wanda has two sons and lives in La Vernia, Texas. She likes to travel, read and spend time with family and friends.
Senior Wealth Advisor
John Keeton is a senior wealth advisor at Covenant. In this advisory role, John applies the firm’s proprietary process, Lifestyle. Legacy. Philanthropy.®, to help clients develop and implement prudent strategies to achieve their lifetime goals. John assists families with their investment, income tax, wealth transfer planning, and philanthropic strategies and leads Covenant’s internal team meeting, identifying how we are best utilizing and implementing the above services for our clients. John is also on Covenant’s Investment Committee and heads the fixed income trading desk, developing and maintaining customized municipal bond portfolios for clients.
An original member of the Covenant founding team, John returned to Covenant in 2013 after three years in the Houston area serving as a high net worth banker with JP Morgan’s Private Bank, advising business owners and corporate executives. Prior to joining Covenant in 2010, John was an investment analyst for Texas-based Frost Bank’s Wealth Management Services group. John began his career in the investment industry with SMH Capital as an equity research analyst, focusing on Energy and Consumer Discretionary sectors.
John is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Houston where he graduated with honors, receiving the top student award in the MS finance program. He continues to support the University of Houston as a mentor for the Cougar Fund, a student-run investment fund managing over seven million dollars. The University of Houston recognized John’s accomplishments in a story published in Inside Bauer: “From Teenage Investor to High-Wealth Manager”. John received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in finance from Southwest Texas University in 2003 (now Texas State University), where he graduated summa cum laude.
John enjoys being involved in the San Antonio community where he serves as chair of the Awards Committee for the Texas Business Hall of Fame, President of the CFA Institute Society San Antonio, a mentor for the students at the Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University, a Financial Planning Advisory Board Member for the University of Incarnate Word, an Advisory Board Member for the University of Houston MS Finance Program, and a mentor for the University of Texas San Antonio’s Center for Innovation Technology Entrepreneurship (CITE) program. John is also the co-coordinator for the CFA Institute Research Challenge – Southwest, which is a university level equity research competition consisting of over 25 participating business schools in the southwest region. John was recognized as one of the recipients of the 2016 San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and is a proud member of Leadership San Antonio 42.
John lives in Bulverde with his wife, Kathryn, and their three children. Kathryn has her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, managing her own consulting business as well as the Associate Director of Executive Education at The University of Texas San Antonio. John’s favorite hobby includes family time with his wife, son, and two baby girls.
Casey Keller is an investment advisor at Covenant. Casey serves on the firm’s investment committee and works with individuals and families by helping them build plans and execute strategies to optimize their finances and achieve lifetime goals. He also serves not-for-profit corporations in developing investment policies and managing portfolios to help them impact their beneficiaries for generations to come.
Before joining Covenant in 2019, Casey helped grow Eggerss Capital Management into a successful financial planning and wealth management practice which was acquired by Covenant in 2019. At Eggerss Capital, Casey had many roles which centered around helping clients with financial planning and managing portfolios, including trading and investment strategy. He also helped to educate clients and the public by developing content around financial planning and investment topics through speaking engagements and the firm’s newsletters, podcasts, blogs and radio broadcasts. Casey began his career in the investment industry with Wells Fargo in 2004 and has also worked in Broadway Bank’s Wealth Management group for 2 years. His 15 year career also spans roles of performing due diligence on fund managers, individual stock portfolio management and selection, authoring content on economics and markets, working on a small team at Wells Fargo that developed an automated trading platform which was used to manage over $3 billion in assets and personally developing client reporting software that was used nationally by Wells Fargo.
Casey is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the CFA Institute, and served on the local CFA San Antonio board of directors for 4 years.
Casey lives in San Antonio with his wife, April, and two children. He enjoys spending time with his family, especially new experiences together like travelling. He is active at his church, where he serves in volunteer and leadership roles.
Manager of Business Operations and Human Resources
Monika Krowska is the manager of business operations and human resources at Covenant. She joined the San Antonio team in June 2014. Monika provides oversight of all firm-related operations for Covenant and is responsible for many facets of the organization’s development and for monitoring administrative and HR processes and procedures. She manages day-to-day activities of all employees, overseeing maintenance of facilities and related contracts, and human resource duties including hiring, coaching, and training our team to best serve our clients.
Prior to joining Covenant, Monika worked at University Health Science Center in San Antonio, where she provided administrative support on a patient level. Prior to University Health Science Center, Monika worked for a home health care company as a Client Service Manager, where she managed human resource duties and over 50 field employees.
Monika graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor degree in Neuroscience from Drew University in New Jersey. She lives in San Antonio with her husband, Lee, and two children, Brooke and Ryan. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and outdoor activities.

He has 30+ years of senior client management experience across multiple fields. He holds a Series 65 securities license for registered investment advisors and used his expertise to help double the growth of his previous firm Strategic Investment Partners LLC. Terry’s prior experience also includes acquisition & retention of Fortune 500 clients in multi-national locations as well as large contract negotiations in the field of third-party logistics. Terry enjoys researching emerging new technologies particularly in FinTech and holds patents on open loop skydiving simulators. Terry is a professional member of the La Confrérie de La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs & Société Mondiale du Vin and owns/operates Comfort Pizza with his son. Terry’s specializations include assisting high net worth families as well as institutional services such as corporate retirement plans.
Terry and his wife Sandy have three adult children & reside in Boerne, Texas.

Prior to joining Covenant, Raquel served as the Vice President of Investor Relations for Covenant Global Investors, managing the firm’s family office services, after joining the firm as a paraplanner in 2004. Raquel began her career at the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, where she served in the member relations office.
Raquel received her B.B.A. from Southern Nazarene University and holds the professional designation of a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). She is a member of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and has been active in San Antonio United Way. She is married with a daughter and two sons.
Shawn T.H. Morris is a wealth advisor at Covenant. In this advisory role, Shawn applies the firm’s proprietary process, Lifestyle. Legacy. Shawn uses his experience with various financial, estate, investment, and tax planning strategies to help his clients accomplish these goals.
Prior to joining Covenant in 2019, Shawn was an Investment Advisor with Eggerss Capital Management from 2014 until their merger with Covenant. He focused on Financial Planning and Portfolio Construction. He assisted at the firm level with developing their 401k business and ECM Digital platform. Prior to Eggerss Capital, he worked for Charles Schwab. Over the course of his almost 16-year career at Schwab, he served in many capacities. As a V.P. – Financial Consultant, he specialized in comprehensive family wealth management, with a concentration in Schwab Private Client and Managed Portfolio Solutions. He pioneered the Satellite Branch Initiative for Schwab in Corpus Christi. Shawn also served as a Branch Manager, and in Outside Business Development. He received multiple Chairman’s Club awards. Shawn began his career in the financial industry with Olde Private Brokerage in 1997.
Shawn received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 1993. Shawn Morris is a Certified Financial Planner™ PRACTITIONER, as well as Accredited Asset Management Specialist™.
Shawn lives in Fair Oaks Ranch with his wife Cheryl and the youngest of his 4 children Josh. Shawn is an active member in the Boerne Chamber of Commerce and is involved with the Leadership Boerne Council.
Aaron Muñoz is an administrative assistant at Covenant. He joined the San Antonio-based team in August 2018. Aaron provides administrative support to the office for their day-to-day operations and assists the tax services team.
Before joining Covenant, Aaron worked for Bexar County for approximately two years as a clerk for the Probate and Estates Department where he assisted with document processing, court procedures, and the receiving of electronic filings relating to the probate process. In December of 2013, Aaron received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Jewish and Israel Studies from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. He completed a study abroad immersion program at the University of Haifa in Israel in the spring of 2012 with a focus on Middle Eastern Studies and International Relations.
Aaron currently lives in San Antonio. In his down time, he enjoys attending church, hiking, traveling, and searching for the perfect cup of coffee around town.
Clair Neeley is an executive assistant at Covenant. She is a member of the Oklahoma City team and has been serving many of the same clients for more than two decades. Clair provides first line support to client requests, establishes client accounts, performs critical daily maintenance functions, prepares client reports, and provides general “back office” support for Covenant families. She also assists the Oklahoma leadership with certain projects and with implementation of the policies and procedures associated with Covenant’s status as an independent firm.
Prior to joining Covenant, Clair served as Client Service Manager for an independent financial advisor. Previous to this role, she worked in human resources for Kerr-McGee Corp and Seneca Oil Co. and as an office manager for Sun Life of Canada.
Clair lives in Oklahoma City. She was a soccer mom for years and now enjoys reading, photography, and activities with friends and family, which includes four spunky granddaughters.

Mark uses his experience with various financial, estate, investment, and tax planning strategies to help his clients accomplish these goals.
Prior to joining Covenant in 2013, Mark was a Vice President within JP Morgan’s Private Bank. For 9 years, his focus was working with high net worth individuals and families across several delivery platforms, including banking, trust, brokerage, and investment management. Mark began his career in the financial industry with Bank One, N.A. as part of a commercial banking development program.
Mark received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in finance from The University of Texas at Austin in 1999. Mark has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM since 2005 and currently holds his Texas All Life and Lines Adjuster License.
Mark lives in Dallas where he enjoys reading, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

Before joining Covenant, Ollie served as Senior Financial Advisor for Covenant Global Investors. In England, Ollie compiled an extensive background in the financial services field as a Business Advisor, Savings and Investment Manager, Financial Planning Manager, and most recently, as a Certified Senior Financial Advisor for The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS)/NatWest Bank and HSBC. While in the UK, Ollie attained nationally regarded qualifications for providing comprehensive financial services to clients in the areas of personal tax, investments, retirement planning, and insurance. He also has earned the equivalent designation for the U.S. as a licensed financial advisor. Ollie retains the professional designations of a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA).
Ollie was born and raised in Nottingham, England and graduated from Sheffield University with a dual honors degree in Business Accounting and Financial Management. He has been active in Salvation Army programs and has traveled to Malawi in Africa to perform volunteer work.
Ollie enjoys playing badminton, soccer, chess and percussion. He also knows how to make a proper cup of English tea and looks forward to sharing those insights with our friends and clients. Ollie and his wife, Emily, have two children, Alison and Lily.

Chief Investment Officer
Justin Pawl is a partner and managing director of Covenant. As the firm’s Chief Investment Officer, Justin leads all client strategy efforts and serves as the head of Covenant’s investment committee. An investment strategist with a focus on risk management, he is responsible for Covenant’s strategy research, manager due diligence, and portfolio construction. Justin has direct experience in alternative investments, public equity, private equity, and venture capital, which he acquired over the past 15 years.
Before joining Covenant in 2012, Justin was a portfolio manager for Evolved Alpha, a multi-strategy hedge fund he co-founded in Santa Barbara, California, where he focused on portfolio construction and risk management of liquid alpha-return strategies. Prior to Evolved Alpha, Justin gained hedge fund research, analysis, and portfolio construction experience as an analyst and then co-portfolio manager of multiple fund of fund strategies. Justin began his career with a boutique investment bank in California, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and raising growth capital for middle-market companies.
Justin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He also earned a Master’s Degree with Honors in Biogeochemistry from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. Justin is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Chartered Alternatives Investment Analyst (CAIA), and a Member of the CFA Institute.
Justin lives in San Antonio with his wife, Michelle, and two children. He enjoys spending time with his family and just about any outdoor activity.
Jacky Phan is an investment analyst at Covenant. In his role, he assists the Chief Investment Officer in conducting research, manager due diligence, portfolio construction, and quantitative measurement. He also supports the firm’s operations with regards to investment reconciliation, compliance, and performance reporting. Furthermore, he provides aid to the advisory team and leadership with special projects.
Jacky graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio. While there, Jacky served as the coach for the university’s fencing club and liaison between the university and other local fencing clubs.
Jacky lives in San Antonio and enjoys spending time with his three pets and any indoor activity.
Senior Operations Associate
Part of the team that formed Covenant in 2010, Connie Porras serves as the firm’s senior operations associate. She supports all aspects of the firm’s private placement investments ranging from onboarding new clients, review of subscription documents, to processing various transaction requests such as money movement, trade support, and exiting clients. In her role as senior associate, she provides support in various areas such as training of new staff and serving as the subject matter expert to client service teams supporting our Covenant families. She also assists the management team with special projects and with implementation of the policies and procedures associated with Covenant’s status as a Registered Investment Advisory firm.
Connie has a strong background in account reconciliation, financial analysis, investment operations, and customer service functions. Prior to joining Covenant, Connie served for a year with Texas-based Frost Bank’s wealth management services group. For the five years before joining Frost, Connie developed investment industry skills and knowledge at Alliance Bernstein Investments, Inc., where she worked in the separately managed accounts area. She was selected as a primary trainer for private accounts administration and reconciliation, working directly with clients, brokers, and portfolio managers. Connie advanced through positions of increasing responsibility at Alliance, serving variously as a new accounts representative, a reconciliation representative, a private account administrator, and an investment analyst. Her investment operations experience runs quite deep. For the five years before she joined Alliance Bernstein, Connie worked in a similar (though not investment-related) operational capacity for Radiology Associates.
Connie lives in San Antonio and is a proud mom of her children, Devin and Sarah. She enjoys outings with her family and is a die-hard Spurs fan!
Client Service Associate
Abby is a client service associate at the San Antonio office for Covenant. She supports the firm’s operations by maintaining client accounts, cashiering and custodial relationships. Prior to joining Covenant, Abby worked for a community bank in central Pennsylvania, providing a wide variety of support to both lenders and customers.
Abby graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a minor in Financial Planning. During her time at A&M, Abby was involved in her local church, both leading small group and mentoring women in the college ministry.
Abby lives in San Antonio with her husband and best friend, Matt. She enjoys going on adventures, hiking and throwing frisbee outdoors, trying new Thai food restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
